PIA launches pre-Hajj flight operation across Pakistan

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially announced the start of its pre-Hajj flight operation from April 19, aiming to transport more than 55,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through 191 flights from multiple cities.

According to a spokesperson, around 49,000 pilgrims will travel under the government scheme, while over 6,000 pilgrims using private Hajj group operators will also be facilitated through PIA services. The first flight, PK-747, is scheduled to depart from Sialkot at 1:55am, carrying more than 390 pilgrims to Madinah.

The airline has planned extensive operations across major cities. From Islamabad, over 15,400 pilgrims will be flown via 46 flights, while Karachi will see more than 15,000 pilgrims departing through 55 flights. Lahore will contribute 12,377 pilgrims via 34 flights, and Faisalabad will send 3,680 pilgrims through 23 flights.

Additionally, 5,383 pilgrims will travel from Multan via 13 flights, while Quetta will handle 4,487 pilgrims through 15 flights. The first Quetta flight is set for April 21, while initial departures from Karachi and Lahore are scheduled for April 23 and April 24 respectively.

PIA confirmed that its pre-Hajj operation will conclude on May 21, with comprehensive arrangements made to ensure a smooth journey for pilgrims. Airline staff at airports and offices in both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will assist travelers throughout the process.

Meanwhile, AirSial has also commenced its Hajj operations, with its first flight departing from Karachi carrying 160 pilgrims. Officials stated that modern immigration facilities under the “Route to Makkah” initiative are helping streamline travel procedures for pilgrims.

Authorities emphasized that all necessary steps have been taken to provide a comfortable and efficient experience for Hajj travelers this year.
